Rayya Haddad first sensed a passion for photography as a teenager. After studying sociology for two years she decided that academia was not for her and transferred to art school. It was in art school that, with the camera as a tool, Rayya she began her path to self-expression. An artist and a record keeper, Rayya feels that the versatility of the camera allows her to capture "the impossible" not seen by the naked eye and also to show "the truth of a matter, subject or reality." Rayya has a great passion for the human condition and a desire to see of the world a better place than that which she was born into. She enjoys photographing the similarities we share as human beings rather than the differences. "Why do we continue to focus on the negative aspects of our existence? Haven't we had enough of self- imposed suffering? Can we not wake up to a better, cleaner and purer reality? Peace from the middle east."
