Rana Massaad was born in Beirut in 1978. She spent three years started studying architecture at the Saint Esprit de Kaslik University until she switched to photography in 1999, receiving her degree in 2003. After graduating Rana taught photography at the Louise Wegmann College in Badaro. She is currently works as a freelance photographer. For the workshop Rana decided to continue a project that she had already been working on about the Yerevan Bridge in Borj Hammoud. The bridge links Ashrafieh to Jdeideh passing through buildings that were built illegally during the 1975 - 1990 civil war. The bridge has changed the urban environment dramatically, forcing residents to not only adapt to the view but also to the noise and pollution.
