Damascus Gallery

Lina Alhafez was born in Damascus in 1983. She is a self-taught amateur photographer and has been experimenting in different genres of photography since 1999. After graduating from the Media Faculty at the University of Damascus, Lina has volunteered her time with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, as well as other NGOs. She has photographed their activities as well as their causes. For the workshop Lina chose to work on a story about a Damascene orphanage called “Dar El-Aman” or the "Safe Hom". The orphanage is a boarding school and home to 175 boys aged from 6 to 12 years. It is considered to be among the best orphanages in the Syrian capital.
