    Raising public awareness and understanding through photography and multimedia are important objectives of Al-liquindoi. We partner with different NGOs and foundations to provide support and education in visual storytelling internationally. Geographically these projects include Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus.

      Visual Storytelling in an Open Society, Egypt

      Al-liquindoi partners with Contemporary Image Collective and NOOR to produce this long-term training opportunity for documentary photographers and photojournalists in Egypt.

      Open Society Institute. Documentary Photography Project

      OSI offers a yearly grant and training opportunity for documentary photographers from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Afghanistan, Mongolia, and Pakistan. Al-liquindoi is in charge of the training program for the grantees.

      Contemporary Image Collective, Egypt

      In 2009 Al-liquindoi coordinated a series of workshops for the Contemporary Image Collective in Cairo, Egypt, as part of CIC's initiative to offer training to local photojournalists and photo editors.       Acción Contra el Hambre, Spain

      As part of their public awareness campaign for ACH, in 2008 Al-liquindoi coordinated and taught a photography workshop with women in the village of Kolondima, Malli. The women, along with photographers assigned by Al-liquindoi, Gonzalo Höhr and Olivia Gay, photographed different initiatives started by ACH in the Sahel. The resulting work was exhibited in Madrid and was used in an ACH educational packet. For more about Acción Contra el Hambre and the work they do: www.accioncontraelhambre.org

      Open Society Institute. Documentary Photography Project

      OSI curated MOVING WALLS INTERNATIONAL: A Group Photography Exhibition. From 2006 until 2008 the exhibition toured to eight different locations in the Middle East and North Africa. In each location Al-liquindoi organized a production workshop for the local photographers. Included below is information about each project and a gallery of images.

      Birzeit University, Palestine

      In February 2006 Al-liquindoi coordinated a one-week workshop with Magnum photographer Larry Towell for sixteen Palestinian photographers at Birzeit University. The workshop was co-directed by Rula Halawani. The workshop was made possible by support from the Open Society Institute and the A. M Qattan Foundation.
